Radio stations sponsor contests focused around the theme of Valentine's Day, and newspapers run pictures and stories about spouses with long marriages. Everywhere you turn, you are bombarded with pictures and stories of happy lovers.

What can you do to survive Valentine's Day when you are worried sick that your marriage is on the rocks? How do you deal with all the love hoopla when your spouse doesn't know if he or she really loves you or wants to stay married?

The following seven tips will help you to keep your perspective and sanity:

1. Be your own valentine this year and celebrate the wonderful person that you are. Make an appointment to have a massage or pedicure on Valentine's Day as a present to yourself. Or make plans with a friend to dine at a gourmet restaurant either on Valentine's Day or the day before. Buy yourself a new CD or book that you've been wanting. Leave work early, if possible, and do something fun such as going to a movie in the middle of the work afternoon.

You might have said to yourself, "One day I'm going to take piano lessons." Now is the time to get started. Make a list of things that you'd enjoy doing and pick one to put on your schedule. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to wait and see what happens in your marriage before you take steps to create a more satisfying life. The time to start enjoying life is now.

6. Expand your support circle. Stay in touch with your friends, even though your first impulse may be to withdraw when you're feeling blue. Look for ways to increase your contact with others such as taking a night class, going hiking with a local hiking group, or attending services at your church, synagogue, or mosque. Don't let fear of questions keep you at home. You can be discrete and give a response such as, "I can't get into it, but I appreciate your caring and concern so very much. Thank you."

7. Find your strong woman or strong man warrior
energy. Go rappelling, learn to scuba dive, ride in a hot air balloon, try para-sailing, plan a backpacking trip, go horseback riding, lift weights, explore river rafting, dance around a campfire, sing powerful songs, or sign up for a martial arts class. Do whatever empowers you and make you feel strong and energetic. Stretch out of your comfort zone and surprise yourself by doing something different. Then congratulate yourself for your spunk.

Here's some information to help you get the best quality gold jewelry for your money, whether you're shopping in a traditional brick and mortar store or online.

Gold
The word gold, used by itself, means all gold or 24 karat (24K) gold. Because 24K gold is soft, it's usually mixed with other metals to increase its hardness and durability. If a piece of jewelry
is not 24 karat gold, the karat quality should accompany any claim that the item is gold.

The karat quality marking tells you what proportion of gold is mixed with the other metals. Fourteen karat (14K) jewelry contains 14 parts of gold, mixed in throughout with 10 parts of base metal. The higher the karat rating, the higher the proportion of gold in the piece of jewelry.

Most jewelry is marked with its karat quality, although marking is not required by law. Near the karat quality mark, you should see the name of the U.S. registered trademark of the company that will stand behind the mark. The trademark may be in the form of a name, symbol or initials. If you don't see a trademark accompanying a quality mark on a piece of jewelry, look for another piece.

Solid gold refers to an item made of any karat gold, if the inside of the item is not hollow. The proportion of gold in the piece of jewelry still is determined by the karat mark.

Jewelry can be plated with gold in a variety of ways. Gold plate refers to items that are either mechanically plated, electroplated, or plated by any other means with gold to a base metal. Eventually, gold plating wears away, but how soon will depend on how often the item is worn and how thick the plating is.

Gold-filled, gold overlay and rolled gold plate are terms used to describe jewelry that has a layer of at least 10 karat gold mechanically bonded to a base metal. If the jewelry is marked with one of these terms, the term or abbreviation should follow the karat quality of the gold used (for example, 14K Gold Overlay or 12K RGP). If the layer of karat gold is less than 1/20th of the total weight of the item, any marking must state the actual percentage of karat gold, such as 1/40 14K Gold Overlay.

Gold electroplate describes jewelry that has a layer (at least .175 microns thick) of a minimum of 10 karat gold deposited on a base metal by an electrolytic process. The terms gold flashed or gold washed describe products that have an extremely thin electroplating of gold (less than .175 microns thick). This will wear away more quickly than gold plate, gold-filled or gold electroplate.

Why do people collect sheet music? There are several reasons
why. First and foremost, all of us have a favorite song. No
matter what walk of life you are from, you have at least one
song that brings back memories of days gone by. Whether the
memories are good or bad, the song has still become a part of
your history.

Many people collect sheet music, especially from the early
1900's, because of the beautiful artwork on the front covers.
There were many artists that worked for different music
publishing companies, and some of these artists also went on to
design for Walt Disney, and other very well known companies. If
you examine the cover of many of these old pieces of sheet
music, you will be able to find where the artist signed the
artwork. This always increases the value of the piece to a
collector. You will find names like Starmer, Pfeffer, Barbelle,
and the mysterious "Rosebud" signature, which is generally
thought to be the work of several different artists that worked
for Harry Rosenbaum. This mark usually consists of a rose shape
within a circle, with several different variations on the basic
symbol, because of the different artists involved.

The music of the late 1800's and very early 1900's are sometimes
collected for the style of printing on the covers. These
earliest pieces usually had very ornately lettered front covers,
using different fonts and line graphics that are highly sought
after by some areas of collectors. Not as beautiful to look at
as far as the later Art-Deco styles, but still beautiful in
their own way. Most were printed using only black ink on white
paper, because the color printing process had not been developed
well at the time.

Then you have the collectors that long for the "good old days",
when families would gather around the piano in the family room,
and sing the favorites of the time. Jazz and swing numbers, as
well as waltzes are quite popular, especially if they have a
photo of the artist that featured the song in a recording on the
front cover.

I collect sheet music for all the reasons I have just discussed.
The memories, the history of the writers and musicians, the
period of history the songs represent, and of course the artwork
on the covers are all an obsession with me!

There is more than one type of loan. Depending upon your situation, you might find that what works in one circumstance does not work in another. This means that it is very important for you to educate yourself about different kinds of loans so that you are more prepared when you speak with a lending officer, or with a financial counselor. Understanding the difference between a secured loan and an unsecured loan.

At their very basic, loans come in two kinds: secured and unsecured. Whether you are looking into business loans or personal loans, they will either be secured or unsecured. Credit cards, which are basically consumer loans, are also denoted with these names. However, you will find that most credit cards are unsecured, unless they have a very high limit.

A secured personal loan is one that requires a form of collateral. Collateral is something of value that the lender can possess if you fail to meet your obligations. A home loan is a secured loan. If you default, then the lender can take your home to cover its costs. Auto loans and car title loans are other examples of this. It is also possible, for smaller loans, to offer valuable jewelry or electronic equipment as proof that you will pay back the money you borrow. However, it needs to be something that the lender feels it can use to recover its loss should you default. If you are seeking a bad credit loan, more than likely you will have to put forth some collateral. When you have less than favorable credit, you are immediately seen as a higher risk, and therefore must offer something to justify the risk the lender acquires in allowing you to borrow money.

Unsecured loans are the opposite. They require no collateral. As mentioned previously, credit cards are a form unsecured loans. Many banks offer small signature loans. These are usually loans of between $500 and $3,000. Most unsecured debt comes in smaller amounts. This is because if you stop making payments, the lender loses what you have been lent. They can turn you over to collections, and can call demanding payment, but, ultimately, if you have no money and cannot pay, the lender loses out. However, the cost to you is also great. Your credit is effectively destroyed, making it next to impossible for you to get a mortgage in the future. It can even hamper your chances of receiving approval for an auto loan or a credit card.

Any loans you take out, whether they are secured or unsecured, are reflected in your credit report. It is important to establish a pattern of responsibility fulfilling your obligations in full, and in a timely manner.

Traditional gifts for the fourth anniversary are fruit or flowers. Of course having a fruit basket or flowers delivered to the home or office is appropriate. What is Dowsing?

Dowsing is definitely an intuitive art and one of the oldest forms of divination in the world. Perhaps the oldest and most familiar image we have a dowser is what is called a field or map dowser. This person walks over a landscape using a Y shaped or forked stick (sometimes called a doodlebug) to locate subterranean sources of water, oil or even precious minerals. The stick vibrates, crosses or shakes when the substance is found. Some dowsers will use two sticks held in one hand, and when the sticks cross, it signifies that a subtle astral or geopathic force has located the natural resource. This kind of dowsing is also used to locate things such as buried treasure, lost persons, missing jewelry and stray golf balls!
However, the kind of dowsing we are concerned with in this article would be for the purposes of divination. To do this you need to purchase or make what is called a "bobber" or a "pendulum". This is simply a pointed object made of metal, crystal or wood that is attached to the end of a string or a rope. Crystals make excellent pendulums. To diagnose disease, use a rose quartz crystal. For general divination, a silver, lapis, wood or hematite pendulum works well. A pendulum can be anything that appeals to you, that is personal, feels like it conducts energy and can be hung from a chain or string. For instance, I have a little silver acorn charm that works perfectly as a pendulum. Some people use keys or talismans or charms such as a crucifix or ankh. Pendulums can be bought commercially online and in New Age or Occult Stores.
There are no strict rules around the practice of dowsing, however there are two methodologies behind the purpose of it.
The first methodology involves using the pendulum to answer a yes or no question. Some practitioners use a chart or a map, usually a square of paper with a circle drawn on it with the words YES or NO written at the four quarter points of the circle.
Sometimes, a direct answer can be written on the four points of the paper as well. For instance if the question is "Who does Bob love?" then you may have different options such as "Me", "His Wife", "His Child" or "Nobody" written on the four quarter points of the circle. The dowser holds the pendulum over the center of the circle concentrates and sees which answer the pendulum naturally sways towards.
There is also another direct method of getting a yes or no answer. Hold the pendulum straight between thumb and forefinger. Ask the question. If it sways to the right, the answer is YES. If it sways to the left, the answer is NO. If it goes in a clockwise circle, the answer is YES: a counterclockwise circle - NO.
Healers, to scan a body for disease, also use pendulums. The spinning in a counterclockwise circle is said to be an astral message that something is wrong with that part of a body. Also if the pendulum is just very active it can indicate an energy disturbance in a chakra or an imbalance of some kind. There is an old wives' tale too, that if a pendulum is held over the belly of a pregnant woman, it is a boy if it swings to the right or clockwise and a girl if it swings to the left or counterclockwise.
Before you start dowsing, you might want to say a little prayer, asking God or the powers that be for permission to dowse.

Spring can be a busy time - more events to attend, more outings to go to. So what's the right fashion etiquette for the occasion?

Get together in the near future?

A date for high tea? Although the formality of white gloves is gone it is still important to dress nicely. Do not wear jeans or a sloppy shirt. Add appropriate jewelry, shoes, and handbag.

Office picnic? Relax and wear your casuals. Now don't show up in a pair of sweat pants unless it's going to be a day of baseball and sports. Don't show up wearing your anything inappropriate like shorts that are too short or a clingy top. Capri pants are great combined with a comfy tank or T. Add some fun jewelry, and comfy shoes and your good to go. Remember although this is a fun event it is still a work sponsored event so put your best foot forward.

Black Tie Gala? This season is filled with soft flowing feminine looks. So here's a perfect time to be a girl. Try an ankle length tiered dress with silky layers in a romantic print. How often do you sit around and wonder how to make more money and get more people to buy more from your company? It's one of the most basic problems every company faces.

The answer is astonishingly simple. Too simple maybe. But I've seen it work over and over again with our customers in every line of business you can imagine.

You have to promote. Your income is governed by the size of your customer base and how often and effectively you communicate with those customers.

So raising your income is simply a matter of keeping in touch with your existing customer base, reminding them you are there, offering them goods or services they might be interested in, in such a way that they want to buy more and more often from you. And increasing the size of your customer base by finding and contacting potential customers and persuading them to buy your products or services and then adding them to your customer base and keeping in touch with them in the same way.

If you have a good service or product and you make sure you service your customers well, you cannot fail to raise your income.

How rapidly you raise your income depends on how rapidly you do these actions, how much you promote. Handling the quantity or volume of promotion is definitely the most obvious thing you can do on an immediate basis. Believe it or not, if you send out crappy, crappy promotion, your income will go up. You may not be happy with the Return on your Investment (ROI) for that marketing effort, but definitely it will raise your income. Once quantity is handled and you are sending out loads of promotion, you want to tweak it and raise the quality of your promotion. And here are some things you can do.

Use Offers to Improve Your Response.

One of the barriers to buying which you work hard to overcome is "no
hurry." Why buy it now when I can think about it for a few weeks, shop

of May." (Or whatever, you get the idea). Obviously the offer must be
financially feasible for you so you'll have to do some number crunching
before you make the offer.

You can tie these special offers in to some particular event or season
(like jewelry for Valentine's Day or flowers or chocolates or just about
anything for Christmas) but you don't have to.

Special Offers help you maximize on your direct mail marketing and keep your customers ordering from you when you want them to. It's just one more way to be in control of your promotion.

How Valentine's Day Gifts Can Expose a Cheating Husband

If you have the nagging feeling that your husband may be
having an affair, this is the ideal time to confirm what you
suspect. The Valentine's Day gifts he gives or receives can
provide you with tangible proof of his infidelity.

If your husband has a lover he's certain to buy her a
Valentine's Day gift; whether he receives one in return or
not. This could prove to be his undoing. An observant
wife can find some solid evidence this time of year if she
knows what to look for and where to look.

A husband can sometimes get away with giving his wife a card
and a hastily purchased box of chocolates. But tradition
demands that on Valentine's Day, he gives his mistress a
special gift. No self-respecting man would try to impress
his girlfriend with a cheap token of his affection. If he
wants to remain in her good graces (and in her bed) he has
to buy her a decent gift.

It goes without saying that gifts cost money. Even if your
husband has been siphoning off small sums for several weeks
or months, you'll find evidence of his spending somewhere.
If he doesn't pay in cash he'll have to use his credit card.
But there's always a paper trail.

Have there been any suspicious withdrawals from your bank
accounts? Check the time period shortly before or after
Valentine's Day. Were there any unexplained ATM withdrawals
around this time?

Check your credit card statements for the month of February,
and the latter part of January too. Look for charges made
at jewelry stores, women's specialty stores, or boutiques,
florists, day spas, restaurants and the like. Scrutinize
any charges made on February 14th.

Check his wallet, his pockets, his backpack, his briefcase
for charge slips or store receipts. If you find evidence of
gift items you didn't personally receive, it should raise a
red flag in your mind. Since your husband didn't give these
gifts to you, who did he give them to?

Check various places in and around your home for hidden
gifts -- under the bed, in the back of a file cabinet or
dresser drawer, on the back of the closet floor, or on a
seldom used shelf.

Don't forget to search the car too. Look underneath the
seat, in the trunk, in the glove compartment and in the tire
well.

If you find a hidden gift, don't jump to conclusions unless
it's obvious the gift is not for you (too large, too small,
a color or style that he knows you wouldn't wear, or has
another woman's name attached).

If Valentine's Day passes and you haven't received the
hidden gift (but it's now gone), then it's obvious that he
gave it to someone else. Make it your business to find out
who.

Shortly before Valentine's Day, Carol found a box in her
husband's sock drawer containing a diamond and sapphire
ring. She said nothing because she didn't want to spoil
the surprise. But on Valentine's Day Jim gave Carol a dozen
long stem roses and a gift certificate for a day of
pampering at her favorite day spa. The next day Carol
searched high and low but the ring box could not be found.
She spent several sleepless nights trying to figure out what
had become of the ring. Three weeks later Carol dropped by
Jim's office to meet him for lunch. One of his co-workers
was wearing a ring similar to the one in the box. It didn't
take Carol long to find out Jim and this woman were having
an affair.

Laura found a gift box containing a sexy negligee in the
trunk of her husband's car. He tried to pass it off as a
gift he purchased for her but the gown was several sizes too
small. No amount of persuasion on his part could convince
Laura the salesclerk put the wrong size in the box by
mistake. Especially since she had already found other
telltale signs of a possible affair.

Be suspicious of any unusually expensive gifts your husband
receives this month. Especially if he claims he purchased
the items for himself, but can't produce a receipt.

Likewise, warning bells should sound if your husband
receives gifts of an extremely personal nature, in February
or at any other time. No woman other than yourself should
be giving your husband six pairs of silk boxer shorts --
unless it's his mother or his sister. (And even then, you
should check to make sure.)

Take notice if your husband is missing for several hours on
February 14th. Be wary if he invents excuses to come home
late, or to run an errand later on, on Valentine's night.
These could be additional telltale signs.

If you suspect your husband of cheating, Valentine's Day
gifts could provide the missing pieces of the infidelity
puzzle. Especially if there have been other telltale signs
in the previous weeks or months. It may be time to have a
serious talk with your husband. If he's cheating, you
don't want to be the last one to know. Find out what's
going on before it's too late.
